One potential option that is being considered is the development and creation of a brand new food festival event to support a different CBD precinct including Corio Street (between High Street and Vaughan Street), Rowe Street and Maude Street (between High Street and Rowe Street).

This broader area has been identified due to emerging potential of its diverse food offerings.

Food festivals held in CBD precincts are designed to support and enhance local businesses. They can celebrate our diverse business and food offerings to locals and visitors, develop precinct identities, and attract visitation from outside the region, generating important economic stimulation to local businesses.

Please note that to allow for sufficient time to set up an event of this scale to be ready for the evening crowds, there would need to be some significant changes to traffic and road closure conditions in place.

Further planning work on exact times the road(s) and traffic conditions would be impacted needs to be investigated further, however based on previous similar events, some change of traffic conditions happen from 9am on the morning of an event. These closures would likely mean no access to parking customers or delivery drivers, or restricted access within the event footprint proposed.

The purpose of this survey is to now gain some initial feedback from your business on this concept to help Council consider the various options it is investigating.
