Floor Level And Flood Mark Survey: Murchison Flood Scoping Study For Flood Impact Assessment

4 August 2025

Greater Shepparton City Council, in partnership with the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority, is developing a Floodplain Management Plan for Murchison to reduce flood risk and enhance community resilience. As part of this study, a floor level survey of buildings in Murchison and Murchison East, along with a flood level mark survey, will be undertaken to identify properties at risk of over-floor flooding and support flood damage assessments. This work is funded through a grant from Emergency Management Victoria under the National Partnership Agreement for Disaster Risk Reduction.

Council has appointed Chris Smith and Associates to carry out the survey. Surveyors will require access to your property to record the floor level of your dwelling using Surveying equipment. Access will be limited to the front doorstep no further entry will be needed.

Surveyors will carry identification and a copy of this letter to confirm their authorisation by Council. The survey will run from mid-August to mid-October.

For any queries, please contact David O’Halloran, Nicholas Nightingale or Nick Dunham of Chris Smith & Associates Survey Department on 03 5820 7700.
