What is a Universal Access and Inclusion Plan?

A Universal Access and Inclusion Plan is a document designed to identify and address the barriers that all sectors of the community encounter in their day-to-day life.

Greater Shepparton City Council has had a Disability Action Plan or similar document since 2004. In accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, all Victorian councils have a disability action plan. A disability action plan identifies actions to remove physical barriers for people with a disability and is also designed to increase employment and change community attitudes.

A draft Greater Shepparton Universal Access and Inclusion Plan 2022-2026 has now been developed and we are now seeking further feedback to make sure we have got it right.

This year from 14 June to 26 July we invited the community to have their say in our first stage of consultation. Participation in the process occurred through an online survey, pop ups, workshops, Agency and individual conversations with our Access and Inclusion Officer.
